Terms of Use

1. Eligibility and the U.S. pilot

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tenets. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you. The pilot is offered only in the United States. You may use the Service only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms.

2. License and Apple terms

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial reading. The Tenets iOS app is also governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”), which is incorporated here by reference. If these Terms conflict with the Apple EULA for the iOS app, the Apple EULA controls to the extent required by Apple or applicable law.

3. Subscriptions

• Tenets may offer monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions that remove ads while the subscription entitlement remains valid.
• The app shows the subscription duration and full renewal price before purchase. Prices may vary by storefront, tax, or Apple pricing changes.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can manage or cancel through your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting Tenets does not cancel a subscription.
• Apple processes billing, cancellation, and refund requests under its rules. Except where required by law or Apple policy, we cannot issue App Store refunds directly.
• If a purchase is refunded, revoked, expires, or cannot be verified, ad-free access may end. Use Restore Purchases in the app if an active entitlement is not recognized.

Current subscription information is available in the app and on Tenets Support. We may change future prices or offerings as permitted by Apple and applicable law; any required notice or consent will be handled through Apple.

4. Content and editorial limitations

Tenets presents short passages and editorial information drawn from sources we believe we are permitted to use, including public-domain material, licensed material, and Tenets-authored or commissioned editorial work. Rights can differ among an original work, translation, edition, introduction, annotation, and image. If you believe content infringes a right or should be withdrawn, contact support@readtenets.com with enough detail for us to investigate.

Passages may be abridged, translated, modernized, or presented with editorial metadata. Despite review, the Service may contain errors, disputed attribution, incomplete context, or material you find objectionable. Tenets is for general reading and reflection—not medical, legal, financial, mental-health, religious, or other professional advice. Do not rely on it as a substitute for qualified advice or an authoritative edition of a work.

5. Acceptable use

You may not:

• interfere with, disrupt, overload, probe, or bypass the Service’s security, rate limits, or technical controls;
• use automated means to scrape or extract the Service except as expressly authorized in writing or allowed by law notwithstanding this restriction;
• reverse engineer or attempt to derive source code except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits;
• use the Service to violate law, infringe rights, distribute malware, or facilitate fraud or abuse;
• misrepresent affiliation with Tenets or use Tenets branding in a way likely to cause confusion; or
• manipulate, click, or encourage others to click advertisements to generate invalid traffic.

6. Ownership and feedback

The Service’s software, design, selection, arrangement, branding, and original editorial material belong to us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not claim ownership over third-party or public-domain source material. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

If you voluntarily provide suggestions or non-confidential feedback about Tenets, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use and adapt it to operate and improve the Service without compensation or attribution. Do not send confidential material through feedback channels.

7. Privacy, advertising, and third-party services

Our Privacy Policy explains how information is processed. The free Service may display Google AdMob advertisements. The Service also relies on Apple for distribution and subscriptions and Cloudflare for hosting and security. Links, advertisements, and third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies. We do not control or endorse every third-party destination or advertised product.

8. Changes, availability, and termination

We may correct, withdraw, or change content and may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service. We may restrict or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created security or legal risk, or misused the Service. This does not eliminate subscription cancellation or refund rights provided by Apple or applicable law.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, or security. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tenets and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption arising from the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of $50 or the amount you paid for Tenets during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except to the extent federal law or the law of your state requires otherwise. Any dispute not brought in an eligible small-claims court must be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in Connecticut, unless applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive a right that applicable law does not permit you to waive.

12. General

These Terms, the Apple EULA, and the Privacy Policy form the agreement governing the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer these Terms as part of a reorganization, financing, or sale of the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

13. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms by posting the revised version and changing the effective date. If a change materially affects an active subscription or your legal rights, we will provide additional notice when required. Questions may be sent to support@readtenets.com.
